decease we find record of a ZU?2/<? in pen-and-ink on
pane!, and of a small copy on paper of Michelangelo's
Zrzy/Nevertheless, with the exception of the
sketch of the artist's preserved in the
Biblioteca Nazionale in Florence, no rz^y^/y^ au-
thenticated drawing by Cellini has come down to us.
The following, however, may perhaps be rightly as-
signed to him from among the many drawings that have
at various times borne that attribution.

This volume of sketches is clearly contemporary with Cellini,
and though the work contained in it is unequal, many of the
drawings strongly resemble genuine work by that craftsman.
