Much the largest collection of reproductions of pictures by Cranach
which has been published, with a biographical sketch and notes on the
pictures. The collotypes are largely from pictures exhibited at the Cranach
Exhibition, Dresden 1899, but they also include several altarpieces of the
school of Cranach, not then exhibited, photographed in detail. The text
is to be reacl in connection with the same writer’s Cranach-Studien.

The book contains good lithographic facsimiles of the eight marginal
drawings by Cranach in the so-called Diurnale ol' Maximilian I in the
Munich Library, with a portrait of Cranach and a preface by J. G. Z.
