A single cut from the blockbook of “ Antichrist and the Fifteen Signs.”
The cut is from the second part of the work : £ ‘ Quindecim signa extremi
judicii diem praecedentia.” It is the lower subject on fol. 2, and relates to
the second sign.

The scene is the top of a cliff, forming a table-land, cleft by a ravine.
A man, kneeling on one knee, near the edge of the cliff, points to the sea,
which has receded. Two other men stand 1. conversing. The ground is
quite barren and dry. The spires of a town appear in the background.
[110 X 155.] Printecl in brown ink; well preserved ; not coloured. There are two
xylograpliic editions of tliis work, one anonymous, the other bearing tbe signature of
Jungbanss briefmaler zu nuremberg, and tbe date 1472. Scbreiber reproduces fol. 8 of
eacb of tbese editions in vol. vii, pl. lvi-lvii.
Anotber fragment of tbe Auticbrist blockbook (Weigel 164), supposed to belong to
tbe first edition, is in the Library (Proctor 13).

but it is anotber nf Bagfoid’s copies, and is to be found in bis collection bound up in
Harl. 5934, no. 101, printed on paper of the full size of tbe volume, witb the watermark
K W M (King William and Mary ? Anuther paper on wbicb some of these copies are
printed bas for its watermark a posthom on a sbield, surmoimted by a crown, witb W R
