Later edition.

The shield containing Diirer’s arms, still with the monogram and date,
has been cut out of its original position in the corner and inserted
immediately in front of Diirer’s brow, so that his hair touches the r. side
of the shield. No border-line.

[192 X 178.] Poor impression, on crumpled paper, and cut down. Watermark, an
eagle.

Copy.

[290 x 256.] Impression of 1781, from the block preserved at Vienna; this copy
has the monogram and date in the shield; the lines are coarser throughout than in
the original. Inscription below, “ Alberti Dureri Effigies, | Edita ex lignea Tabula
ab eodem A. hdxxvii. incisa, quae Vindobonae in Aug. | Bibliotheca Caes. Reg.
asscrvatur. | mdcclxxxi.”
