An ornamental frame placed above the church of St. Nicholas contains
the inscription, “ Ankummen vnd Ehireyten Kaiserlicher Maiestiit, vnsers
al | ler gnechgsten herrn, zu Miinchen, vnd irer Ivais. Maiest. cla | selbst
erzeigter Triumph vnd ITerrligkeiten, mit raisings vncl | fiisz volcks
kriegszordnung vnd vbung, auch geschiitz vn fewr | werck, vnd andere
kiirtzweyle, gar eygentlich aufF gegenwer | tigen zetel verzeichnet vnd
auffgedruckt.”
Another frame, near the Austrian arms, contains the further inscrip-
tion, “ Zu eren den Hochgebornen Eiirsten vnd Herrn, Herrn Wilhehn
| vncl Ludwig gebriidern, Hertzogen in obern vnd nidern Baiern, etc. |
meinen genedigen Herrn, ist diese aigentlich verzeichnus gestelt, Die
schonheit vnd kostliehkeit, dardurch Kaiserlich Maiestat, vnser al = |
ler gnedigster Herr, zu irer Kais. Maiest in das heilig reych vii hoch

the watermark described in tbe note to no. 117 ; tbe fiftb bas a sbield witb St. George’s
cross, witbin a circle.
Provenance not recorded.
No otlier impression of tbis edition is lmown. Of tbe first edition, witb Latin text,
but one iinpression is known, at Sigmaringen. Tbis is one of Bebam’s rnost excellent
woodcuts, and it is clear that be was an eye-witness of tbe scene. He used mauy of
tbe figures in after years as material for engravings.
