Tbe three cuts in tlie Canon appear to be by Traut, tbe cliief illustrator of Holzel’s
books. The presence of a date in tbe first cut, and tbe sbape of the numerals, suggest
bis band ; tbe Yirgin may be compared witb nos. 3 and 4 (p. 513) ; but a more striking
resemblance is tbat of St. Jolm bere and on tbe tentb small scene of tbe Passion in
P. iii, 206, 265. See also St. Jobn in tbe Crucifixion of tbe Passau Missal of 1514.

beliind tlie cross, looking up; at tbe foot of tbe cross a skull, and the date 1507.

Tbe Crucifixion is dated 1510, instead of 1507. At tlie end of tbe book is tbe same
Rosary cut as was used in (Nicolai) “ Tractatus de Confraternitate de decem Ave Maria,”
printed by Holzel, 1513.

One illustration, on title-page, coarsely cut, in tbe style of tbe illustrations to
Locher, 1506, and certainly by tbe same artist. A devil bolds up a mirror to a wbore
sitting in a grassy field; anotlier devil runs up from 1. witli two bounds in leash. Single

One cut, ou title-page, clearly by Traut, tbougb not well cut (c/. p. 511, no. 1, cut
by a dift’erent band). The Yirgin r. and St. Anne 1. liold tbe Child Jesus standing
between them. Two fiying angels support a brocaded banging beliind him. Leaf
ornament in upper corners. Double border [103 X 81].

Cut (not signed) on title-page. Tlie Infant Cbrist on_ a cusbion, holding the
