This tomb was excavated in 1896 by Benedetti.
Only a part of his description of the tomb is preserved;
it runs as follows:
Contrada Pizzo Piede (Narce o Fescennia) Calcata.
I vecchi
visitatori non la[s\ciarno che pochi avanzi d’oro e romperno tutto
cio che non appagava il suo desiderio, cost i frantumi dei vasi
erano spar si lungo il piano della tomba ed anche nella corsia.
The plan and section of the tomb, apparently drawn by
Benedetti, are shown in Fig. 45.

1. Vase-carrier. Pl. XXXVIII. M.S.933, H. 0.84
m., D. 0.461 m. Mended. Fabric of medium fine
texture, brick red throughout. Flaring top and two
bulbs handmade; base wheel-made. Medium polish.
The bell-shaped base is divided by pairs of horizontal
ridges into five zones which are ornamented with knobs
of two sizes and with triangular perforations. The two
central bulbs are marked off by similar pairs of horizontal
ridges and ornamented with small knobs and circular
perforations. The flaring top is divided by a pair of
horizontal ridges into two zones which are ornamented
with knobs, again of two sizes.
2. Vase-carrier and Bowl. Pl. XXXVIII. M.S.
932 and 934, H. of Carrier 0.559 m., D. 0.331 m.; FI. of
Bowl 0.281 m., D. 0.293 m. Restored. Similar fabric,
outer surface a deeper red than that of the foregoing.
Bowl, flaring top and base of the carrier wheel-made;
bulbs, handmade. Medium polish. The single central
bulb is separated from the upper and lower portions by
horizontal ridges. The base is more constricted at the
bottom than in the foregoing carrier. The bulb is orna-
mented with a horizontal row of seven circular perfora-
tions; the base with three similar perforations below the
bulb set above three, slightly larger, above the rim.
The channels between the vertical ribs are so widely
spaced as to give the effect that the edges of the ribs have
been bevelled.
3. Footed Plate. Pl. XXXVIII. M.S.934a, H.
0.052 m., D. 0.0226 m. Intact. Catalogued as the

polish. Two string holes in the middle of the concave
surface, three concentric circular grooves.
4. Vase-carrier. Pl. XXXVIII. M.S.931, H.
