that queen. It is not clear whether this head
once formed part of a complete figure.

12. Vase of red glazed ware, late but good
work; it represents the type of Aphrodite
Anadyomene.

13. Archaic head, of hard limestone. This
head is peculiar in type; the hooked nose is
very unlike that of a Greek archaic head, and
may, perhaps, be due to Egyptian influence.
It is barely possible, however, that this head is
not really of early date, but an imitation of
Ptolemaic period.

XVIII.

Scarabsei; the eight rows at the top are of
paste, the three at the bottom of stone.

XIX.

1. Dog couchant, with paws crossed ; in very
hard, white stone.

2. Very unusual form of symbolic eye, in
soft yellow paste.

3. Situla in hard paste.

4. Ibis in lapis lazuli.

5. Head in soft yellow paste with wreath of
flowers, orginally thinly glazed.

6. Seal with name of Seti I., in drab glazed

paste.

7. Bulla in sheet gold impressed.

8. Head of ibex in schist. The work of
this is most exquisite; the delicate curves of
the surface being perfectly rendered.

9. Scarabasoid, roughly rounded on back, in
obsidian.

10. Gold earring, hook broken.

11. Pendant in blue paste.

12. Seal impression in clay from a papyrus.

13. Seal impression in clay, inscribed TA.

14. Plaque of green glazed paste; reading
" I am the servant of Bast, Ra-user-ma sotep-
en-(ra)," apparently referring to Sheshonk III.,
whose cartouche is written with the feather for
Ma, and who was devoted to Bast, being named
Si-Bast. This is a very interesting object, such

an inscription being very rare if not unique on
an amulet.

15. Head of Hathor, of flat work, in rich
blue paste.

16. Fragment of plaque, in soft white paste,
formerly glazed ?
