CONDENSED ITINERARY OF THE EXPEDITION

The time given in each instance is the actual time spent in riding or walking from place to place. Stops
have been eliminated.
The pace maintained as a rule was about four or five miles an hour. In the mountain districts, however,
it was often necessary to go more slowly than that.
The thermometer readings were made upon the Fahrenheit scale.
The letters in parenthesis following names of places serve to indicate where the different members of the
Expedition went when they separated temporarily. When no letters are given, all the members were to-
gether. When one or more are left out, those not referred to remained in camp. "B." stands for Butler;
"P." for Prentice; "L." for Littmann; "H." for Huxley; "Dr. P." for Dr. Post; and "G." for Garrett.
