Extremely rare German edition of a calender by the famous astronomer Johannes
Regiomontanus.
On verso of the title we find eight verses to the reader, in praise of the work, on 1. a8
follows the ,Tafel der land vnd stet“. The Kalendarium commences on 1. a2 v. The description
of the eclipses of sun and moon begins on 1. b4v, illustrated by 40 cuts printed in
red and black. Then follows on 1. c1 v: Wie man den newen mon vnd vol mon vinden sol.
On 1. c2: Von der sunnen vnd des mons vinsternufi. On 1. c5 v begins the interesting chapter on
sun-dial: Wie man ain sunnevr madien sol. On 1. c8 we find the chapter: Uon aigensdzafft der xij.
zaidien, illustrated by 12 ni c e cujts. On 1. c8 v follows: Aigensdiafft der siben planeten. At end
there are four large astronomical and astrological diagrams: Instrument der planeten stand. In-
strument des waren lauffs des Mones. Quadrans horologii or'izontalis. Quadratum horarium generate.
These four diagrams are printed on four leaves, stuck together in pairs; on the invisible parts
of these leaves the same diagrams are also printed. The movable piece belonging to the last
diagram is wanting.
Quite perfect copy of this rare and finely printed German calendar. The first 11. are
rather wormed with loss of a few letters and in blank margins. Old MS. notes, partly erased.
The blank space of title-leaf is blotted with black ink.
No copy in U. S. A. (acc. to Census) and the British Museum.
