SERMONS [Povodovius— Utino].

1573 Povodovius, H. Conciones de puro dei verbo eiusque Germano sensu et de coena
domini, sub una panis specie communicanda. Posnaniae, Joa. Wolrab, 1578. 8VO.
With the arms of Poland on verso of the title. Swd. 20.—
Wierzbowski I, 368. Estreicher 69. Dedicated to Stephen I, king of Poland. Joh. Wolrab,
the second printer at Posen, began printing there probably in this year. Deschamps,
col. 1046, mentions as the first date 1579.
1574 Raulin, Johann. Opus sermonum de aduentu religiosissimi viri: artium ac sacre
theologie in Parisiensi academia quondam professoris Johanis Raulin. Paris, Berthold
Rembolt, 1516. 41°. 10 unn., 188 numb. 11. With printer’s mark of Jean
Petit, a large woodcut and many partly figurated initials on crible ground.
Old limp veil. 100.—
Not in Brunet or Graesse. First edition. On 1. 1 v the interesting privilege against
the reprinting, in French. On 1. 10 v there is a nearly full-page fine cut, the author presenting his
book to the bishop Jacobus d’ Amboise of Clermont.
Inside front-cover there is the very rare and interesting woodcut armorial ex-libris of
the Cardinal Melchior Klesel in small size (not in Warnecke). Klesel was one of the
most important heads of the reaction against the reformation. The bookplate is dated 1614 and bears
the inscription: MELCHIOR KLESELIVS PRAE I positus Viennensis . .. The exlibris is unfortunately
rather wormed.
See Reproduction, p. 85.
