Artur NACHT-SAMBORSKI SK
Cracow 1898 - Warsaw 1974
In the period 1917-1925 he studied at the Cracow Academy of Fine Arts under Wojciech Weiss
and Felicjan Szczpsny Kowarski. In the years 1921-1923 he stayed in Berlin, where he frequented
the circles of expressionists and dadaists. In 1924 he went with the Parisian Committee to Paris.
In 1934 he travelled to Spain. From 1946 he held a professorship in the State College of Plastic
Arts in Gdansk and from 1949 - at the Varsovian Academy of Fine Arts. In 1958 he participated
in the 29th Biennial of Art in Venice.
He painted portraits, nudes, still lifes, and landscapes, applying a transparent construction of
pictures and sophisticated colour gamut.
