He attended the Cracow Academy of Fine Arts in the years 1957-1963 (diptoma under Emit
Krcha). fn the period 1972-1980 he was an assistant professor at the Faculty of Painting of the
State Cottege of Plastic Arts in Wroclaw; since 1980 he has headed the Studio of Painting at the
Academy in Cracow; in 1989 he became a professor of the Cracovian Academy. He has won
several prizes, a. o. the Award of the City of Cracow (1981) and the Award of the Alfred Jurzykowski
Foundation (1988).
He is a painter, critic and teacher. In his works he applies an expressive somber colour and
synthetic form. He creates romantic landscapes, still lifes, religious paintings - in the 1980s of the
then current significance.
