Jadwiga Hoffman (1896-1987), a painter, first
studied at the Adrian Baraniecki Courses, iater
(1919-1927) - at the Cracow Academy of Fine Arts
under Ignacy Pienkowski and Wojciech Weiss, and
in the Parisian Branch of the Academy under Jozef
Pankiewicz. She was connected with the Associa-
tion of Plastic Artists "Zwornik".

Heiena Bium (1904-1984), an art historian and
critic, wrote severai theoreticai treatises on the 20th
century art, monographs of artists and museum
cataiogues. From 1944 she worked in the Nationai
Museum in Cracow as a curator in the Department
of Painting, Scuipture and Graphic Art. She was a
member of the Committee of Theory of Art at the
Academy of Sciences and Letters (PAN) and of the
Internationai Association of Art Critics (AICA).
