After three clays’ lialt ancl rest at Tashkurgan we proceeded on
our return journey towards Yarkand, accompanied again by our
old companion, Hyat Mukammad, tke Kirgkiz Yuzbaski, wkose
tents and people we visited on tke way some clays after. We
travelled tke first day to tke foot of tke Kok Moinok pass,
taking a long round by tke Tagkarma plain, wkere we enjoyed
tke kospitality of Krumcki Bi, tke ckief of tke Kirgkiz located
tkere. We kacl a long and interesting conversation witk kim
ancl kis Kirgkiz about tke neigkbouring Kizil Art plain and its
lakes and streams. Tkis plain, witk numerous camels, korses,
yaks, skeep, and goats grazing on its fine pasture grounds, was
