A most unusual miniature, certainly the work of a fine artist. The
upper part represents the annunciation of the birth of Christ to
the Shepherds, the lower part shows Bethlehem. Size 5 : 7 % inches.
School of Toscana, probably Siena. $ 600.—
Conception, design and colouring are so
unusual t h a t I am tempted to suppose that the
artist executed paintings as well as miniature s.

on vellum. Two saints (Maria and Joseph?). Very nice large semi-
border. Size of the miniature 3% • 3^2 inches, size of the leaf 18 : 24%
inches. Probably school of Ferrara-Bologna, late i$th Century. $ 130.—

on vellum. A magnificent and most unusual miniature. Christ on
the Cross, an angel on each side; the adorers below are naked and
resemble the souls of the ascending, which seems to characterise
this miniature as a most unusual representation of the day of judg-
ment. The leaf is surrounded by a wonderful rieh b Order of a most
remarkable and unusual style. Unfortunately slightly cut. Size
of the miniature 4 : 4J2 inches.’, size of the leaf 9% • T3 inches.
