of his famous cantata: "Schmücke Dich, o liebe
Seele” , published in the critical edition of the complete works of
Bach, edited by the “Bach Society” (Bach-Gesellschaft) as no. 180 in
volum 35, wehere a full description of this manuscript is to be found.

LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN. Autograph musical
manuscript, 6 leaves, (the last leaf blank).
It contains sketches, mostly for op. 106, the “H a m mer-
kt a v i e r - S o n a t e”, one of the most important works of
Beethoven’s last style. These sketches, especially those to the
famous fugue, come near the final Version. Bekker, Beethoven
(1922), ranks the fugue of the fourth movement of the Hammer-
klavier-Sonate as high as the two other great B fugues of the
late Beethoven: the Credo fugue of the Missa Solemnis and the
Quartet fugue, opus 133.
