of Suicide. A Gentleman in Company chal-
lenged me to produce any one Pafiage in
Scripture which abfolutcly forbids it; I couid
not recoiled!: any one at the Tim:-, nor have
I been able to find one fince. If any of your
Cornfnondents will point out the particu-
lar PafTagrf alluded to, lie will perhaps confer
a great Obligation on fome of t'.icfe Mortals
who are weary of their Exiftence, as well as on
Your humble Servant,

f Of the late LORD CHESTERFIELD.

LORD CHESTERFIELD being one Day
in Company with fome Ladies of his Ac-
quaintance at the Exhibition, they obforved a-
njong other • fine Portraits, the' celebrated
Handel's. O law! my-Lord, fays one Lady,
there's the great Handel, as I zm alive; but it
is a thoufand Pities that the Artift did not paint
one of his moft favourite Pieces, imitateing a
Scroll, in his Hand; it would fet of the Pic-
ture, I am fure, to much more Advantage;
would it not, my Lord? Why, yes, it certainly
would anfwered his Lordfliip, I wonder fays
flic, which of them would look heft there;
Why, replies the wit, I fhoukl think if his
TViiter Piece was there, it would look to a
much greater Advantage.

the laid Eftate are requeued immediately
to pay the fame.

S hereby given to the Gentlemen of
_ the fettlcment arid the Public in gene-
ral that Mr. Robert Harvey's Godown in
the Radda baazar, oppofite Mr Guthnes
is now open for the iale oi the following
Articles viz.

The bell Country Rum wholefale and
retail, in Puncheons, Pipes, and Hogf-
heads, atone Rupee four Ans. per Gallon
wholefale, and one Rupee 8 An's. re-
tail. Fine Old Rum at 2 Rupees per
Gallon., fine double:, and treble refined
Loaf Sugar, Manufacturedat Sookfagur,
and equal to any made in Europe Calcu-
lated to anfwer the end of fwcrtning,
without, depriving the Tea of its Flavor,
Sugar of this excellent and agreeable
quality has been long wifhed for in this
part of the World.

The very fined tranfparent Sugar Candy
at 30 Rupees per Maund. Patpa piece
Goods, raw Silks Sec. and a variety of
Other articles. All Gentlemen favoring-
Mr. FDrvey. with their Commands, may
depend upon his exerting every endea-
vour to iiive them fatislffion.

ALL PERSONS,

WFIO have any demands on the
Eftate of Mr. William Jultice
deceafed, are requefted to fend an ac-
count of them to Mr. James Miller one
of the Executors. And all Perfons in-
debted to the faid Eftate, are requefted to
difcharge their refpective Debts, with-
out delay.

of the'l ickets: Likewife requcft that the
Gentlemen who are not in Calcutta, will
give Orders to their Agents here, to Pay-
in the Subfcription Money to Mefirs.
Stark and Robertion, and to receive their
'Pickets previous to that Meeting.
