^ Fig at. A very interesting portal from the beautiful choir
of a building , in what was formerly the monastery of Moem-
roeden It is best seen from the great state-room. The door
itself is an addition of my own. This portal is still exceedingly
well preserved, and has, most probably, been built by the abbot
Benedictus, from the house of Rosenau, who lived towards the
conclusion of the 15th century and who did a great deal for the
prosperity of that convent. The building itself has now been
converted into a dwelling for the manager of the property.

A door from the castle at Ober-Kranichfeld. This door is
of a very peculiar construction: and i am indebted for the
design to the kindness of my late lamented friend, the provost
Dr. who communicated the same to me in 1828.

Fig. n. This highly interesting flower, which has been
given in the design half as large as it is in nature, is taken i

from the magnificent tabernacle (wrought of stone), which, as
well as the church at Esslingen, in which it was situated, has
now been destroyed. It has been wrought by Matth. Boeblin-
ger (cf. Numb. VI plat. 7.) — Fig. & and c. Decorations of
the same piece; Fig. 5. representing those of the lower frieze
and Fig. c. those of the border surrounding the tabernacle. I
intend to communicate the details of this beautiful tabernacle
on three subsequent plates.

designated as signum jur^sf^ctioms, or the tabernacles; it is
to be found upon the grand staircase of the town-hail atHeil-
bronn , on the river Neckar.
