I should like to c..ll your attention to the fact that Pro-
fessor Carl Bezold of the University of Heidelberg, who is one of
the leading Orientalists of Germany, will probably come to the United
States in the string of 1913 to lecture on "The Art of the Ancient
Orient." It is expected that ho ..'ill come under the auspices of
the Germanic Society of New York, but he will be free to give a
Course of four Lectures elsewhere. Indeed, the Germanic Society
is generally anxious to make arrangements for their Lecturers outside
of Lew York.
Professor Bezold spent almost ten yo^rs in London in the
preparation of a monumental work on the famous Assyrian Library in
the British Museum. As a consequence, he speaks English with great
fluency, and indeed just as easily as his native tongue, which is
German.. In his case I can positively vouch that he will be just us
interesting as any American or English Lecturer.
