Dear Professor Wolf:
I have been intending for some time
to send you my thanks for the material relating to
your astronomical work, which you so kindly for-
warded for use in preparing the address on the award
of the Bruce Medal to you. As president of the As-
tronomical Society of the Pacific, your letter and its
enclosure came to me. Unfortunately, the time for the
preparation of my address was rather short, and I was
obliged to gather information where I could find it.
A comparison of what I had written with the details
sent by you leads me to hope, however, that I have not
blundered.seriously at any point in what I have said
about your work. The reprints of my address are here
now and you may like a few copies for some of your
friends. I am sending a package of them by parcel
post.
It was a real pleasure to me that the
award should have been made to you during the year
that it became my duty to explain why it had been
made. I have already sent through the Astronomical
Society of the Pacific my official congratulations;
but please let me add here that I am most happy that
your fine work should have been recognized in this
way. I am sorry indeed that ill health prevents your
paying us a visit, and I do hope there will soon be
an improvement.
With kindest regards and all good
wishes, I am
Sincerely yours,
A /zt ^--Bi-
