Dear Professor Wolf:
I have been intending for some time
to send you my thanks for the material relating to
your astronomical work, which you so kindly for-
warded for use in preparing the address on the award
of the Bruce Medal to you. As president of the As-
tronomical Society of the Pacific, your letter and its
enclosure came to me. Unfortunately, the time for the
preparation of my address was rather short, and I was
obliged to gather information where I could find it.
A comparison of what I had written with the details
sent by you leads me to hope, however, that I have not
blundered,seriously at any point E
