1 have just received your letter of November
4. in view of what you say, i am asking uudendorff to
join our committee, noth schorr and Prager will be on
other committees of the union.
1 know how our merman friends felt about the
International Research Council, AS you doubtless know,
this council has been replaced by a different one, the
central council for international Unions, its objects
are different from those of the Research council. We
shall all be very glad when ceimany joins the Astronomical
Union, and we hope that this may take place before the
meeting in this country next September; but in any case,
whether Germany has joined or not, our Herman colleagues
will be very welcome at the anyone
