haps the Giancarlo Rossi specimen (Catal., Rome,
1 May 1883, lot 299; Arm., loc. cit.').
The letters ER. ending the last word on the obverse have
been taken out. The reverse inscription is for omnium
bonorum mater or rather magistra (Regling). Fra Antonio
must have been deacon at Padua (Province of S. Antonio).
The identification with the Franciscan who was Archbishop
of Patras and then in 1522 Bishop of Cittanuova in Istria is
uncertain (Regling).

On the medal of Simone as Canon of Treviso he seems
to me to be younger than on the other two, but very slightly.
He became Canon of Verona in 1498 and held the position
until his death in 1535. He was nominated Canon of
Treviso by Julius II on 17 Dec.1510, and is mentioned in the
records of the chapter there from that date until 1516. The
Treviso medal was therefore presumably made between
1510 and 1516.

in exergue FAB Nude male youthful figure
seated 1. on square cippus, holding in extended
r. nude running winged Cupid r. who dis-
charges a broken arrow from a bow, and
resting 1. on spear; behind him, small nude
male figure kneeling 1., clasping shaft of the
spear in both hands; in field 1., small quiver
with band (dropped by the Cupid).
