Kalintpong. Sheepherds from the surrounding
places bring down their loads of wool to Phari
and they sell their loads to#the stockists at l’hari.
From Pharizong loads of . wool are transported
to Kalimpdng on mules, through perhaps the
world's most dangerous and difficult road route.

, This route is one of the main links between
Tibet and the rest of the world. Road there is
but a foot treat made by the mule walking at
i*s best possible ease 1 It takes about seven
haltings between Phari and Kalimpchg for the
mule to bring down the loads of wool etc.
through a distance of aboift 95 mil.es.’ The coast
of transport .works out to about Rs. 21/- per
md. of load between Phari and Kalimpong!)

Tibetans make a good many verieties of
clothings out of the wool-in Tibet for their own
u e of which some of the '•articles cfme c!twr.

market for sale. Of all the weavings done in
Til ct, besides the artistic carpets 'panie' is the
most beautiful stuff the'Tibetan make and this
goes to beautify the Tibetan belle greatly.
