The Anti-Cocruption
Deptt. dealt with G:i!) eases
during the quarter April
to June, 1950, a number
of eases being initiated
and suecessfuly proceeded
with on the basis of in-
formation conveyed by
members of the public.
As a result of the
investigations into eases
of eoi nipli.m, an assistant
was fined Rs. 100 - or in
default R.I. for six weeks',
a member olthe public was
sentenced to six months
K. I. for offering illegal
gratification to a public
servent; and, in another
case, Sale Tax amounting
to Rs. 22,122/- was reco-
vered from some cycle-
dealers in Calcutta.
Action taken against

transfers of a Superinten-
ding Engineer of theWoiks
and buildings Deptt., a
SubsAsstt. Surgeon, an
Assessor Inspector of the
[i'ood Oeptt. and an S-.I.
of the Police Deptt., On
enquiry, a Sub-Inspector
of thb Calcutta Police,
two Constables, one S. 1.
of the Calcutta Rationing,
three Patrollcrs of the Food
Deptt at Burdwan, a
Shroff of the FToogly
Treasury, and Head Cons-
table of the Calcutta Police
were discharged trom
Government service The
increments of two Assis-
tants of the Calcutta Ra-
tioning Officer and another
Assistant of the West Ben-
gal Police Range Ollice
were stopped as a punish-
ment. A llonse-Surgeon
of a Calcutta hospital was
caught while accepting
illgal grant ifieatioil. and
the matter is under further
investigation Departmen-
tal action is being taken
against 102 Govt, em-
ployees. A number of
cases, however, had to
be dropped for want of
sufficient evidence
While appreciating
public co-operation with
them in their work, the
Anti Corruption Deptt..
desire to appeal that in-
complete information and
vague and sweeping alle-
gations do not help much
in investigation. They
would welcome specific
instances of eiirrupt acti-
vities conveyed to them
through signed letters or
personal contact with the
officers of the Anti-Corrup-
tion Deptt., Strict secrecy
of the information supplied
and its source is assured
to all such persons who.
