Durga Puja tins year uivVr the auspices
ol the Bengali Saniitv. The management
under the • accomplished leadership ol
Sanghapal. Sri K. O. Pytje^ in collabora-
tion with Dr. Bond, Presi lent of the Samity,
achieved, an all-round success. The Puja
panial, constructed at the premises ok the
Samity, \wis highly decorated and the
image was a unique excellance of Indian
art a Smired by one and all.
The ceremony inaugurated" witii the
.'Bodhan' «on the 'Malta Sasthi'. participated
by people irrespective ol castes, communi-
ties and social position.! 'Prosad' and
'Charanamnta' were distributed to the sons ;
and 'laughters of the LVeat Mother present
at i he panda I.
Malia Sai tami', 'Mala Astami' and
'Malta Nabanti' nights were ornamented with
three dramas namely, 'KatnarjunaV Tai-To'
and 'Chan'ragupla' pcrforme 1 by the youths
of the Samity in' midst of hearty cheers
of the huge gatherings. Oil the Vijova
evening, tie people were entertained with
variety performances which ended in'Kola-
kuli' with Mistimukh'
A special performance ol the much
adorned Karnarjuna' was made on 23-10-50
in honour of H. K. Dr. K. N. Katju,
Governor, whose kind visit an 1 dignified
presence 111 puja rnandap '"during the
performance with other distinguished
officials, encouraged the players for more
beautiful performance.
The eyes of Kalimpong iniH^rd the iluytim''
with longing liearts to witaesa tin; dramas, cinema
stiows and variety performances, etc, in the evening
at the.-puja paudal nrliich piiovctl to he a sourre
of continuous amusements for 10 nights and such
a jo\ful puja had not h'tfunotii'tAever in Kalimpong.
