DALAI LAMA ARRIVES
AT YATUNG

His Holiness TenzinJyam-
tsho th« Dalai Lama and
temporal & spiritual ruler
oi Tibet arrived at Yatung
this afternoon. The future
movement programme of
His Holiness is not vel
known but informed circles
believe that he will stay
at \ atung for sometime
thus keeping him both in
Tibet and near Indian
territory where he could
come in course of hours
only in -ease of any emer-
gency. At Yatung His
Holiness is slaying at the
the palatial building of
1'angdat Tasahg while many
of his followers are stay-
in.' in improvised tents,
Yatung having only very
limited number of residen-
tial houses to accommodate
such large numberof | eople
as are at present in
Yatung.

The Dalai Lama is
accompanied by many
•high ranking Tibetan offi-
cials including cabinet
ministers, hundreds of
followers, members of
Kusung-his personal body
guard—, monks retainers
and several foreigners who
were employed under the
a vernment of Tibet.

Prices of every thing
have gone up in Yatung.
How long the Dalai.Lamn
proposes to stay at Yatung

Siliguri observes Patel
Day on the 29th Dec. PJfjO,
by observing Hartal
throught the day ami held-
ing a public meeting in the
afternoon. Sutra—Vajna
was performed in the
meeting.

As desired by the
Congress the local market
was closed and in the
afternoon a meeting was
held in which different
speakers in their speeches
paid their respectful
homages to the departed
leakier of the Nation. In
honour of his memory a
.Sujtra— Vajana was held
n the. meeting
