Darjeeling Government College- Hou-
sed in commodious buildings of the former
St Michael's School on the Cart Road,
Darjeeling a good Library and well-equ-
ipped science laboratories with gas plant,
offers facilities for indoor and outdoor
games and gymnasium under trained
Physical Instructors, primarily meant for
boys and girls of the hill tribes, also
open to students of all communities.
Girls are taken only as day schoolars.
Tution fees :— I. A. - Rs. 8/-; L Sc -
Rs.lO/-, B. A. Pass- Rs.10/-; B. A. Hons.-
Rs. 12/-; B. Sc. Pass & Hons, in Maths.
-Rs.l2/.; B Sc. Hons in other subjeets-
Rs.14/-. There are a number of free
and half-free studentships for poor and
meritorious students having passed in
the First Division and a large number
of Govt. Stipends for students belonging
to educationally backward classes and
scheduled tribes. Courses of Study :
B. A. - English, Bengali, Sanskrit, Nepali,
Tibetan* Hindi*, Economics (Pass & Hons).
History, Philosophy and Mathematics
(affiliation of subjects with asterisk is un-
der consideration of the Govt.). B. Sc.
- Chemistry (Pass & Hons), Botany
(Pass & Hons), Physics and Mathema-
tics. I. A. & I. Sc. - All the usual
subjects including Biology and Botany
in I. Sc. Hostel Accommodation: There
is accommodation for 50 boys at present.
1 he number may be increased. Seat
rent including electric charges-Rs. 3/p.m.
Messing charges for two principal meals
between Rs. 40/- Rs. 45/- p. m. Morning
tea and afternoon tiffin may be obtained
from the College canteen at concessional
rates. Special Features: There is provi-
sion for various extra-curricular activi-
ties Students are also encouraged to
join the National Cadet Corps of which
an Independent Company has its head-
quarters in the College. Applications
