Kalimpong Shoe ma-

Chinese are at present
working overtime to meet
an order of 10,000 pairs
of knee-length leather
boots which are required
in Tibet. As it is difficult
to .supply the w’hole de-
mand from Kalimpong
some pairs are beini: made
at Calcutta also. It is
learnt that these are requi-
red to replace the worn out
footwear of the Chinese
and Tibetan soldiers in
Tibet. The newly formed
Himalayan Syndicate has
placed this order and they
are paying Rs. HO- for
each pair of Boots.

will be started in Sikkim
State in the middle of
January. The State govern-
ment have also decide to

The. office of the Ka-
limpong Municipality has
been removed to Pyne
Buildings near Civil Supp
lv Office from to-day.
Till now the Municipal
Office was housed in the
local Town Hall where
accommodation was very
little. This happy decision
was arrived at in a spe-
cial meeting of the Com-
missioners of the Muni-
cipality which was held
for this- purpose on Jan.
2. T he Municipal enployeea
are very happy on this
emergence to light form
darkness and are planning
a picnic to celebrate the
occasion.
