is fortunate in having Kalimj 0112 as a beauty spot
in India, and it is true by all moans that she
claims her right to so f.om the point of \'i<w
of a poet’s solitude and an artist’s panaromie radge
_of Snow capped mountains; sombreous valleys
with erratic rivers-added by trails-Himalayan hubb;
the Central Asian atmosphere prevailling thoic— the
caravan bringing wool from Tib. t. lamas blowing

one hand and a rosery in another. Tibetan wo-

gold ornaments; rich traders with f.r cap

doubt, makes Kaliiupoiig a characteristic place
of beauty spot- in eastern Himalayas. So to the
Scotts it is a semi Scot!land. To the* Chinese it
is a part of Eikiang China, and to the plains
men it is an abode of perpetual snow; to foreigners
Kaliinpoi g is the get-way to Central Asia. But.
Kmseong, this mid-way hill station of Bengal
which lies 30 mi.es a.vuy from the junction of
Siliguri station, at an elevation of 5000 feet, in-
habited by over 40,000 pe .pie, is a pecular region of
tea bushes and denuded liills. Unlike Darjeeling,
Kalimpong, Shillcng, Kurseong has but its own
veriegated charms worth tuking note of if one is
keen in observing beauties that it present to
its many travellers. Prosaic ; s iis seems to appear
vet there is nothing poeetic to find except that
you start gazing north constantly as if allured
