Revival Of Wool Trade In View

Kalimpong,

The Tibetan Trade
T)*d»*gation which was in
Calcutta since the 11th
of this in n'h busy nego-
tiating the wool deal with
buyers other than the
U S. A -which till recently
was the chief buyer of
Tibetan wool.-through the
Chinese Counsel in Calcutta
has returned here yesterday.

A general meeting of
the Tibetan Traders’ Asso-
ciation was held here to
day at the office of Mr.

L. Y. Pangda Tshang. the
president of the Associat ion
at 2 P. M, where the
delegates inf* lined the
members present-about one
hundred in all—that the
negotiations have been a
complete success and that
Russia has agreed to take
Tibetan wool if the quality
is approved by the wool
traders and manufacturers
there. They further infer-

their new buyers had sent
a special officer from
Moscow to conduct the
negotiation and that ho
has gone back to Moscow
with samples of wool to
get the quality and the
price approved by experts
there, other terms and
conditions of the business
having b en fully agreed
upon in Calcutta.

of wool at Kalimpong exceed
fifty thousand mnunds have
decided to cling to t! eir stock

The members present in the
meeting expressed tli^k^gratitude
to the members of the delega-
tion for conducting the deal in
th *ir best interest In absence
of their permanent president
Mr. I'angdu Tslmng who has
been urgently recalled in Tibet,
the vice-president of the Asso-
ciation Mr. T. C. Livang presi-
ded over the meeting today.

In an exclusive interview

man of the Association said

The Tibet an Traders’ Asso-
ciation has a membership strength
of three hundred persons &
has sound finance and a cap.-ble
executive committee.

Postponed

Kalimpong has been post-
poned for some time, it
is learnt here.

Branch Opened at Lhasa

Peking ra io announ-
ced on March 13 that
the Bank of China had
officially opened a branch
in Lhasa, the capital of
Tibet.

WOMAN KILLS A
MAN

Kurseong, Mar. 20.
A sensational murder
has been reported from
Tindharia in which a
woman has killed a man.
The woman has been
arrested and kept in police
custody at Kurseong. The
incident took place on
March IT. Further details
are lacking.
