THE LOST CRY
No child becomes orphan during the life time
of its parents but charming Kalimpong, has become
so. What is more pitiable is the fact that this
has happened during the life time of so many
of its city fathers and city mothers Cleanliness
of the town and its systematic planning have been
ca,if to the winds and with the advent of the
rains certain roads in the Bazar have become
skating grounds. Ugly looking huts spring up over
night on the main road of the town and stare
the authorities in their face in complete disregard
of their power and authority. Rain sheds under-
taken to be built by the Municipality aro still
in.the melting pot and whatever has been spent
over this serve only the dogs and the jackals.
Officials cry for public co-operation and public
cry for official protection and it seems that both
cries ace lost in the .wilderness.
V ,Yo have repeatedly pointed out these and
looking at the results we find that our cry too
) has been lost in the same wilderness. But even
then it is undiserable to leave things like that.
Every one should resolve to expose those who
are responsible for all these and it should be our
effort to make them do the right thing. In the
meantime we would request the authorities to
kindly take a tour of the town through roads,
streets & lanes, and find out for themselves if
they could do something to improve Kalimpong.
