FACTS ABOUT TUBERCULOSIS &
B. C. G. VACCINATION

1. B. C. G. Vaccination protects against
Tuberculosis.
2. B. C. G. Vaccination is generally
given to children and young adults who
had not yet been infected.
3. Tuberculin Test which is 'a simple
painless test can tell whether one has
had previous infection These who are
infected are Tuberculin positive and those
not, are Tuberculin negative.
4. B. C. G. Vaccination is given to
protect Tuberculin negatives, because they
are most susceptibal if exposed to the
infection of Tuberculosis.
5. B.C G. Vaccination is absolutely safe
and harmless It is not accompanied
by any pain, fever or complications. It
does not interfere with one’s normal work.
6. Millions of children and young-
adults have been protected with B. C. G.
Vaccination in many countries all over
the world. No one has contracted Tuber-|
culosis from B.C.G. Vaccination, thousands
of young people have died because they
are not protected by this vaccination.
7. B. C. G. Vaccination was introduced
in India in 1948 by the Govt, of India
with the co-operation of International
Tuberculosis Campaign, WHO,/UNICEF.
8. B. C. G. Vaccination is now being
carried on throughout the country. Upto
the end of October, 1951 more than 18
lakh persons were protected against
Tuberculosis by B. C. G. Vaccination.
B. C. G. Vaccination team is at present
workiug in Darjeeling. It will $ visit
Kalirnpong soon.

The Government of India have decided-
to continue the scheme of scholarships
to Scheduled Casts, Sheduled Tribes and
other backward classes for the year 1952-
53. These scholarships are tenable in

Line on Mani Road in ward III of
Kalirnpong Municipality at an estimated
cost of Rs. 3,900/- before 4 30 p. m. of
the 29th July, 1952.
Item rates as per specifications on
overleaf of the tender notice may be
quoted. The materials supplied must
have approval of the Chairman before
such materials are used.
Tender froms may be obtained from
the municipal office one day previous to
the date of tender.
Further particulars may be obtained

Candidates who were in receipt of
scholarships for 1951-52 and wish to get
their scholarships renewed for 1952-53
should send their applications on the
prescribed form meant for “Renewals .
Those who applied last year but were
not selected or if awarded a scholarship,
were not paid second half-yearly instal-
ment in view of unsatisfactory progress
should again submit their applications on
the form meant for “Fresh Applicants'.
The last date for receipt of both
“Fresh” and “Renewal” applications is
