FOOT BAIL MATCHES IN KALIMPONG.
KALURAM MINTRI MEMORIAL FOOT BALL LEAGUE-
Saturday matches provide nice entertainment :
Kalimpong, Sunday July 27.
Once again this vear Kalimpong is witnessing interesting foot-
ball matches.
At present Kaluram Mintri Memorial
Football matches are being played. Yester-
day—Saturday July 26th—a vast gathering
witnessed three matches in the afteinoon
(i) Maitry Sangh Vrs. Motor Sporting ‘B’;
(ii) Motor Sporting ‘A’ Vrs. Friends Union;
and (iii) Town School Vrs F'omes XI.
The teams provided good entertainment to
the thousands of men, women and children
whose colourful gathering on the newly
provided terraced seats presented a gala
appearance.
The result of the second match (Motor
Sporting ‘A1 Vrs. Friends Union) might have
been different according to public opinion
circulating in the ground had the M. S.
Goal keeper retained his glory and had
not the referee over looked a sad hand-ball
bv the Friends Union very near to the
Motor Sporting Half Back line.
Maitry Sangh owes its victory to
its two visiting players from Kurseong
although its local players—-specially the
goal keeper and full backs—deserve no
less credit.
Town School went down fighting heroical-
ly although in the second half of the
play they were visibly 'nervous, their
otherwise good goalkeeper giving way to
nervoi sness and temper Homes players,
however, had an easy game, the school
hoys being no match to the ‘bearded
Snow-man’ who center lined their team and
measured the entire length of the field in
not more than a couple of strides.
The following chart will give the present
position of the different teams as they
stand in this league competition.
