Enquiries have been received from
individual journalists asking the Press
Commission Secretariat whether it is
intended to collect their names and ad-
dresses for the purposes of inviting them
to submit preliminary Memoranda before
a detailed questionnaire on the terms
of reference of the Press Commission is
framed These enquiries have arisen as
a result of some newspapers items fol-
lowing the Press Note issued by the
S cretariate of the Prrss Commission on
Monday, October 13, lequesting associa-
tion of editors, working journalists, news-
papers proprietors, advertising agencies,
newspaper merchants’ associations and
printing machinery merchants’associations
to send their names and addresses by
telegram to Secretary, PreBS Commission,
co INFORMATION, New Dolhi. As
Stated in the Press Note, the Press Com-
mission Secretariat has been trying to
collect the names and addresses only of
associations and not of individuals. The
Press Commission Secretariate will, there-
fore, be grateful if associations of editors,
associations of working journalists, etc ,
will let them have their names and
addresses by telegram. Though it is not
intended to collect the names and addre-
sses of individual journalists, the Com-
mission will welcome Memoranda from
members of the public including indivi-
dual journalists who may be interested
—jn the problems before the Commission.

RUTHERFORD SCHOLARSHIP
The Royal Society have offered one
Rutherford Scholarship for 1953 for gra-
duates of Indian Universities for research
in any branch of the Natural Sciences,
preft rably, in Experimental Physics. The
value of the scholarship is about £450
per annum in the U.K.^and it is tenable
for three years in any part of the British
Commonwealth other than that l'n which
the applicant has graduated. The appli-
cant should not be more than 26 years
of age on October 1, 1953.
Applications are Required to reach the
Ministery of Education, Scholarships
Division, New Delhi, not latter than
November 22, 1952, through the head
of bhe University or institution last atten-
ded by the applicant. '1 he application
forms and necessary’ particulars should
be obtained from the University or the
institution concemd. Applications and
enquiries from individuals will not be
entertained by the Government of India.
