Girl Recovered
From A Notorious Man

A few days ago an
unmarried girl with her
younger brother was re-
covered from the house
of a notorious man of
Mahanandapara by Shri
Jatin More, Sub Inspector
of Police. It is reported
that the girl and her bro-
ther while coming from
Raiganj, delraind here and
stayed in the platform not
knowing where to go. when
they met the above man
and were induced togo with
him on assurance of shelter
with his family. But when
they came in the man’s
house they did not find
any other person there.
It ia alleged that they were
kept confined there for
3 days In the meatime
the host is reported to
have been making arrange-
ment of handing over the
girl to one rich man when
the police somehow got
information and reco
vered the girl with her
brother. No case has been
lodged against the man as
the girl returned back to
Kaiganj.

It is reliably learnt
that the Central Govt, has
given necessary sanction
to construct a new mar-

A big smuggling case
of cement has been detec-
ted by the local Enforce-
ment Officer, Shri I. B.
Ivanjilal and 9 persons
including big merchant and
railway employees had been
arrested on the allegation
that they were implicated
in the case. The case is
that two wagons load of
cement were despatched
from Mokamaghat but
when the wagons reached
Siliguri only one was deli-
vered to the consignee and
he was told that another
had not yet arrived. After
few days 228J bags
of cement were recovered
from two godowns of Sili-
guri alleged to have been
kept without any permit.
The Enforcement branch
begun to investigate the
source of supply of these
cement and they are said
to have detected that those
cements were smuggled
from the lost wagon of
cement with the help of
railway employees All the
9 persons have been bailee^
out. Investigation is still
going on.

Under the auspices oT
the Propaganda Commit-
tee of the Go ftuksha
Samity, Kurseong a pro-
cession was taken out to
observe the Go Sambbar-
dhan Day which paraded
through the main streets
of the town shouting
slogans exhorting the peo-
ple to increase the cattle
wealth in the Country.
Later in the evening a pub-
lic meeting was held in the
Municipal Park in which
different speakers explain-
ed the significance of the
preservation of cattle in
the matter of increasing
the wealth of the country
and nation as well. Sree
Chandra Shekar Prasad,
Secretary of the Propagan-
da Committee of the Go
Raksba Samity spared no
pains to make the obser-
vance of the day a grand
success.
Flag Day on Dec 7
Kalimpong, Nov. 7
A ‘ Flag day" for the
benefit of Ex servicemen
and their families and for
providing amenities for
serving personnel will be
observed throughout the
country on December 7
this year also. As this
date falls on a Sunday
the collections will be ac-
tually organised on the
next day, that is, Monday
December, 8 when the
public oan be more easily
contacted.
