KALIMPONG ARTS & CRAFTS
We publish on page ten of this
issue the Directors report of Kalimpong
Mission Industries for the year ended
31st March, 1952. The profit and loss
account for the period under review
reveals a loss of Rs. 1,610/- which, com-
pared to the loss figures of previous years
is not very discouraging. Only a couple
of years back the institution was in a
very shaky position and was on the
verge of closure when certain sincere
workers took upon themselves to run
it smoothly with the result that the
loss of seven or eight thousand
annualy has now been reduced to rupees
1,600/ only which, considering the pre-
sent day circumstances is no mean achieve-
ment.
While we are sure that continued
careful working will soon result in profit
for the institution we would also like
to congratulate the Secretary, Mrs.
V. A. Williams and her team of sincere
and efficient workers who by their efforts
have saved the institution which besides
being the nucleus of several cottage
industries in the locality is also respon
sible for the daily bread of several scores
of men, women and children.
RAKTIMA - KALYANJIT
The marriage ceremony of Srimati Raktima,
a post graduate student the of Calcutta University
and the only daughter of Dr. G. C. Das Gupta
of Kalimpong with Sri Kalyanjit Sen Gupta, a
convenented officer of M/S Martin & Burns Ltd.,
and a great grand son of poet Navin Sen Gupta
was celebrated in Calcutta in presence of a big
gathering of respectables from both side.
The guests were nicely entertained and Dr.
Das Gupta was all attention to them.
