KALIMPONG ASSEMBLY ELECTION

Out of six nominations filed here on
fifteenth last for State Assembly election
from Kalimpong Sri Bishnulal Kami and
Sri Ari Bahadur Gurung (independents)
and Sri Lalit Bahadur Kharga (Com-
munist) have withdrawn their candidature
leaving in field Sri Narbadur Gurung
and Sri Thakur Prasad (Independents)
and Sri Ratnalal Brahman (Communist)
to contest the election. The Gorkha
League and the Congress have not et up
their own candidates and jointly they
are supporting Sri Narbahadur Gurung,
President, All India Gorkha League.
Symbols allowed to them are ‘ Bov &
Arrow ‘ Pitcher ’ and * Ears of Corn
and Sickkle respectively.

District Congress Committee has been
elected as a member of the All India
G. TSARONG AT KALIMPONG
Rimshi G. Tsarong head of electri-
fication scheme of Lhasa, capital town
of Tibet has arrived herfy from Tibet to
take delivery from Calcutta of the three
125 KYVT each generating plant costing
about 20 lakhs in all. The plants oiderd
through the General Electric Company,
England have arrived at Calcutta and
await transport to Tibet in parts.
Congress^ Committee from West Bengal.
This is the first time that a member
has been elected to Ad^C.C. from the
District of Darjeeling.
At one time the General Secretary
of the All India Gorkha League Sri
Manean joind the Congress in 1951 since
which time he has played a very important
role in the congress organisation of the
District of Darjeeling His election, to
A I.C C. has been a very welcome news
to the district.
