ELECTION TEMPO IN KALIMPONG

Kalimpong,. January 6

A public meeting un-
der the auspices of the
Kalimpong branch of Alj
India Gorkha League was
held in the local mela
ground at 3 P. M on 3rd
inst-, Sri Manikchand Pra-
dhan presided.

The speakers explained
to the audience why- Sri Naf
Bahadur Gurung has been
sheeted as League candi-
date, in place of Sri Tika
Ram Sharma as previously
decided, for the ensuing
re election from Kalimpong
constituency f< r West
Bengal Legislative Assem-
bly.

Sri Tika Ram Sharma
Editor ‘Gorkha’ the only
organ of All India Gorkha
League said that he gave
his place to Sri NT. B.
Gurung because he did not
want that there should
be any conflict among the
leaguers in regard to the
candidature.

He said that he was
fully satisfied when he
won the case which he
filed against the rejection
of hio nomination paper
by the then Returning
Office r of Kalimpong
Constituency.

Speaking on the elec-
tion policy of All India

Gorkha League one of the
speakers, Sri Deo Prakash
Rai, who had come here
from Kurseong for . the
occasion, said that since
the last general election

HEALTH VIA FOOD

Kalimpong, Jan. 6
'Under the auspices of the
Sanskrit! Parishad of the
Maitri Sangha, Kalimpong,
Sj. Motichand Pradhan
gave a talk on ‘‘Health
via. food and exercise” at
4 p.m. at the Sangha pre-
mises.

Sj: Pradhan said that
according to the Hindu
/Science* the human body
consists of five elements
e.g. Ksluti, Ap,Tpj Marut
and. Byom which are the
causetive forces (Karana
Shakti). behind the solid
. matters, the liquid things,
the light energy the air
and the ether respective-
ly. The solid foods that
we take, come under Kshiti
which contributes to the
grossest constituents of the
body. Sj. Pradhan stated
that when the blood loos-
es the balanced condition
between the acidity and
alkalinity in reaction, the
body is bound to be at-
tacked with diseases thro-
ugh the agency of germs,
which are not the actual
causes of disease. Proper
foods taken at proper time
intervals can only main-
tain th is balanced state
of the blood. He discus-
sed critically and scienti-
fically the qualities of the
major foods that we take
and he emphasized much
on the green herbs and
fruits.
