T. B, SANATORIUM

Sir, The People of Kalimpong are
very much perturbed with the news
that a T. B Sanatorium is going to
be opened at Dalapchan within .five
miles from the town. Sixteen years ago
a similar proposal was. brought by the
then Government of Bengal against
which the entire population of the Sub-
Division of all shades rose a strong
voice of protest which succeeded in tur-
ning down toe proposal. After that a
full Hedged T. B. Hospital has been
established at Iviirseotig, the effect of
which is very well known to the resident
of that town and the neighbourhood.

Kalimpong is a far off town, a
Hill Station and educational centre where
people from all parts of India come and
settle down permanently on account of
her moderate climate and the Govern-
ment have provided the Development
area specially for residential purpose.
The scheme for establishing a T. B.
Sanatorium at or near .ah' ut Kalimpong
Town is not only to be objected to
but the residential p< opl* of the locality
should once more rise up to fight against
such proposal which is liable to spread
the fell desense in this ‘lovely Hill
Station.

I on behalf of my constituency
strongly protest any such institution
against tile will of the people, which
will ruin the health of the growing
population of the locality. I would there-
fore suggest that the Government should
either expend the Kurseong '. B. Hospital
with the (Jift money or seek site else-
where which will not nflcct any of the
Hill Town of the District. Yours etc.,
Narbahndur Gurung, M. L. A.

BOOK LIST

Sir,.Previously students were furnished
with- the book lists suon after the Final
Result of the School and before the
Winter Vacation. But unfortunately tb s
is not bo now a day. Th.e Student are.
not supplied with list ;even after the
opening, of the schools. The non-supply
of the book-list in time not only deprive
the students from prep ng into tiie hooks'
that they'require to go through' in the ■
near future but also put the poor parents
and guardians to .great difficulty in pro-
curing books for their childern.

I don't know the-rcason. for*this non
supply of book-iist in time—-there may
■or may not be any reason but. I appeal
to the Authority1 concerned to remedy the
defects to help’the students and the poor
parents. Yours etc , M. \Vangdi.

LATE D. B. MUKHIA
Sir, I am surprised to read the invita-
tion cards issued' by Shri & Shrimati
K. D. Pradhan on the occasion of mar-
riage of their son Shri Pancbaratna
Jaikumar Pradhan with Sushri San
Kutnari on the 7th February 1953 wherein
the name of the bride’s father is men-
tioned ns late D. Bahadur Mukhin. This
surname of ‘Mnkhia’ is false and mis-
leading so through your local paper I
beg to inform all that the said deceased
Dathap Bahadur is my brother and is
a I.cpeha of Namchyomoo sub-caste.
Yours etc. Mrs. D. Mohan.
