LATE D. B. MUKHIA
Sii, 1 have read the letter of Mrs.
D. Mohan, published in your issue dated
15th March, ’53. Sri D. Bahadur, one so
intimately known to me never disclosed
himself to be a Lepcha while he lived.
He passed away about 20 years ago.
He was know’n a9 Mukhia though he
signed as D. Bahadur only. It is possible
he was called a Mukhia because his wife
(dead long ago) was a Mukhia. His
eldest daughter Alice 'dead long ago)
called herself Alice Mukh:a and has that
name in the local Girls’ High School
Register. Now, that since he is claimed
to be a Lepcha of the NamcRvomoo
sub tribe by Mrs. Mohan, l request all
those invitees for that 7th February 53
to very kindly consider that surname

that the surname given out in the
Invitation Card would be. the'cause of
some bitterness in some ((garter. It was
given out simplv as the man was then
