GEORGE MEDAL AWARDED TO TENZING

EXPEDITION PARTY

— Queen Elizabeth has
now awarded the George
Medal to Tenzing, it was
announced in London on
duly 1st.

— The extent to which
“Tiger’ has gripped British
imagination is shown in the
announcement by two
British news papers of
“exclusive” Tenzing stories
to be run on a serial
basis—in The Daily Ex-
press starting on 2nd July
and The News Chronicle
from 3rd July.

According to the Ex-
press, Tenzing dictated
jiis own story'in Delhi and
•‘every section of his ac-
count was translated back
to him front the English—
first in Hindi and then in
Nepali, the language he
knows best,”
