“TIGERS” ENTERTAINED AT DARJEELING

Darjeeling, July IS

A grant! reception was
accorded to the “Tiger
Sherpas” by the Tenzing
Reception Committee Dar-
jeeling at Pliva’s Restau-
rant. The function was
largely attended by all
communities. Sri S Dutt
Maziimdar, Deputy Com-
missioner presided over the
function. In his neat little
speech he praised the
Sherpas for their courage
and determination in con-
quering the unconquered
Peak Mt. Everest. The
Sherpas were then gar-,
landed with silk Kha-
ddas.

Sri R. S. Prasad, M.DC.
who was the Chairman of
tile Committee then intro-
duced the 19 Sherpas some,
of whom had accompanied
the British expedition un-
der the leadership of Col.,
Hunt and the others who
had accompanied previous
expeditions, since 1931.

'1 ho youngest climber Ang
Tshering proudly but shyly
stood up when being intro-
duced aa being the youngest
and a courageous climber
who had climbed over
20,000 feet.

Sri George Mahabert,
M.L.A. who spoke next
said in few words as to
how proud was everyono

at their courage and de-.
termination thereby raising
the pride of Bharat and
he wished them every
prosperity. Sri D. B. Ghat- .
raj. M.L.A. concluded bv
saying that joys knew no
bounds on their achieve-
ment and that lie could
not express further the
inner joy and pride of
such 'an achievement.
Lastly lie said that the '
Deputy' Commissioner Sri,

S. Dutt Muzumdar must
not be forgotten to' be
thanked for his interest in
this connection.
