TENZING ENJOYS
CLIMBING ALPS

SITS DOWN TO FOUR PLATES
OF SOUP

Tenzing who, it was
stated in London was
not going to do any clim-
bing while on his visit to
Switzerland, has been tackl-
ing the 7,250-foot Sime-
loerstock peak in the cen-
tral Switzerland, accord-
ing to a message from
a correspondent there.

Tenzing- has been
climbing the Alps, roped
to Raymond Lambert, the
Swiss guide who almost
conquered Everest with
.Tenzing last year.

The message says •'
“Tenzing clapped .his hands
with joy” when it was
pointed out to him where
he was going. Ho was
very impressed especially
when he reached the most
dangerpus part, and then
the summit. On their re-
turn; 'Lambert told . the
correspondent that “Ten-
. zing was like - a little boy
with a new toy ; this
type of mountain suits
him. Ho was perfect on it.’’
Back-Slapping

Back at the village,
Tenzing smiled and slap-
ped Lambert and other
climbers on the back. Ho
made them feel that he
was happy to be cliiAiing
again and away from the
banquates and receptions
of the cities.

The message conti-
nued p “In the Guidos’
Club, Tenzing sat down to
four plates of thick soup,
meat, potatoes and cheese
and liked it so much

that he gestured for m re.
He has won the hearts
of these mountain people
with simplicity and smih-s-
just as he conquerd Lon-
don.
