COW PROTECTION

Public opinion in favour of cow pro-
tection is gaining in momentum here.
Sri Sarki focussed attention on this ques-
tion by his v sion. This does not seem
to have gone in vain. The demand for
banning cow slaughter has now re-
ceived the support of Acharya Vinova
Bhave in unequivocal teims. Behar
Government have a bill ready for the
purpose which may be introduced in the
next session of the Bihar Assembly.
Vinobaji suggests that the slaughter of
bullocks also should be prohibited. The
measure as a whole is not likely to
interefere with the religious sentiment of
of any section of the people. Many
Muslims have also expressed themselves
in its favour. But the object of the
move cannot be achieved until a large
number of gowsalas are established for
the preservation of- stray and unproduc-
tive animals. The move of Go Raksha
Sangha in this connection should evoke
wide response.
