CHARITY MATCH

Wo are glad to note that the
Kalimpong Foot Bail Association has
decided to .raise funds for the improve-
ment of the Mela Groifnd a til for that
purpose‘they have fixed the final match of
iSud&ma Challenge Shield, to ho played
on the 12th iost, to bo a 'Charity match’.
We are thankful to the the association
for accepting our proposal made in these
columns on Aug. 30, 1953

Kalimpong Mela Ground requires
a good deal of care since this is the
only place where all sorts .of open air
functi ns and sport aie held Had the
ground been in a better condition than
what it is today we could living reputed
Foot half teams from outside which would
have provided added entertainment to
the local people all of wbrm .are keenly
interested in sports..

Nothing, therefore, .-hould lie spait-d
to make this charity match of the i2lh
in.-t a him rid success by way of un-
prec do.nled collection so"that llie Associa-
tion may have ample tends at its dis-
posal to turn tl e present marshy field
into a' nice sports ground worthy of
Kalimpong that enjoys the reputation
of leading the district in all collection
drives

bandit’s feelings , were hurt
Giving details of a robbery a
newspaper in Brazil mentioned recently
that the bandit was aged between forty'
live and fifty years

Feeling sore at this summary descrip-
tion, the thief wrote an indignant letter to
tfie editor, complaining that ho was only
thirty-four and didn’t lock a day older. 4

COLLEGE TEAM'S
CLOXIOU3
COLLAPSE

•Scores :

H. Times 2
College 1

It was a rase of third time lucky
for Himalayan Times on Wednesday
evening when they over came the fighting
S. U M. College Team- in the third
replayed match of ^udama Shield by
two goals to one the winners met
S. U. M. I. ‘A’ on Thursday defeacing the
latter by two goals to nil

Throughout, the College team fought
well and even wh*n it fell down on the
the third day it was a glorious collapse.
With limited players against a team
which had the advantage of picking up
from anywhere, the College team showed
wonderful lenaciiy and their defeat is
no sad reflection in their plays. '

FOOTBALL PLAYERS

Sir. I he practice of elm ugh g players
every time in a team is certainly unrea-
sonable and unfair especially to the
teams sent bv associations or schools
This was observed in t he‘Himalayan Times’
Team in the last two matches against
the S.U.M. College Union Team However,
wo remain content with material defeat
but moral victory. I suggest that the
uuthorities-in-charge should ' take some
precautions to cheek such pretice. 1 am
sure this will be helpful t<> the players
and satisfactory to the public. - Yours
etc. Premanaud James, President S U.M.
College Union, Kalimpong.
