LIFE SKETCH

Born in Kalimpoiig on
the 14-th day of Decem-
ber, 1397 the Raja began
his. education with Dr.
Grahams and Dr Suther-
land and later studied
at St Paul’s College,
Darjeeling Before he was
hardly twenty his father
Raja Ugen Dorji died
in 1917 leaving him to
should- r heavy responsi
bilities at a very young
age.

In 1918 he married the
Princess C.hnni Ongmo,.
sister of His Highness
the present Maharaja 6f
Sikkim and has three sons
and two daughters all of
whom are well educa-
ted and widely travelled.
Following the demise of
his father the Rttja Dorji
was appointed Deb-
Z:mpon of Bhutan l>v H i's-
Highness tbe Drills Gyal-
po and for sometime he
also acted a9 agent to
the Government of Bhu-
tan in India: The ,!ri

Ku • ar of Sikkim accom-
panied by his wife, has
arrived at the Bhutan House
here today.

Amongst others from
Sikkim who called at the
Bhutan- House today were
Major B, K. Kapoor, the
Poht cal Officer in Sikkim,
Rai BahadurT.D. Densappa,
Mrs. J, S'. Lai, wife of. the-
De-van of Si’ kim, and Rai
Bahadur Sunam . Topdun,
the Tibet Liaison Officer.

He passed away at
Bhutan Hcuso, Kalim-
pong on Thursday, Sep-
tember 24. 19 3 at 3.54
p m.
