The Indian fronier

week 10 Muslim families
at Phansidewa Bazar on
charge of entering India
from East Pakistan
without any permit what-
soever. They were produ-
ced before the Magistrate
Siliguri who sent 17 of
them to jail for 7 davs
and detained the remains
persons till the rising of
the court. The migrated
mnslira families told me
that scarecity of food and
essential commodities had.
compelled them to leave,
their villages which were
6 miles from here and
situated rn the Tndo-
Pakistan border. Their
portion of land were in
Darjeeling’ and Jalpaignri
districts in pre-partition
davs and all the business-
of this .side, were being
transacted through these'
districts. In previous days
road communication Was
also better than it was-
today. Biit after partition,
this portion oi land went
to Fast Pakisthan and
Pinajpore is made its
Head Quarter which is
•40 to’50 miles from these
villages and’ hast no pro-
per road communication
facility except kaeha
road. Among the 10 nms-
lim families. ’’ families
had previously lived in

enthusiasm.

School compound where

under the chairmanship of
Sri Baburam Prodhan Vice

spoke regarding Education
work and ‘Five year plan’
with special reference to
the unprovemeht inf I he.
villages. Several others also
spoke- ,in the meeting
’and encouraged the’villa-
gers.' In the end Sri M. R.
Pith.-if appealed ..to the
Teacher-in-charge, volun-
teers and the Head Mas-
ter and other literate per-
sons of)this locality to take
increasing part in the
Social Education field. The
function terminated with
the singing-of the National
Anthem Dana Oana Mans’.
