sented the Hubbard Medal
to Sri Tenzing Norkey
Sherpa in the presence of
a vast & illustrious Rathe-
ring. Earlier the American
Ambassador & his wife
arrived at the Capitol
Cinema along with Shri
Tenzing & his wife & his
two daughters where they
were received at the gate
by Shri.S. Dutt Mazumdai,
Mrs Mazumdar & Shri
K.N, Sinhtt, Vice Chairman,

of the team—Sir John
Hunt, Sir Edmund- Hillary
and Sri'Tenzing Land each.

He regretted that Ten-
zing could not go to.
America with other mem-
bers of the expedition to
receive the medal from
President Eisenhower. In
the minds of the American
people the whole attempt
to climb Everest was a,
magnificent achievement
of human endeavour..

The Hubbard Medal
had been awarded, among
others, to Admiral Perry
who discovered the No'.th
Pole, and Admiral Hyrd

Amidst the -plaudit &
cheers of the vast crowd
the American Ambassador
presented the Hubbard
medal to Sri Tenzing Nor-
key Sherpa with a token
of, Rs. 500/-
